How a headscarf-wearing group of women faced up to Cuadrilla and became the frontline against fracking in Lancashire
Lancashire councillors fail to decide whether to allow fracking for shale gas in the UK for the first time since 2011, deferring decision until Monday
VICTORY! VICTORY! VICTORY! lets celebrate this. Lancashire county councillors today refused planning permission for cuadrilla to frack on the Little Plumpton site (Preston New Rd-PNR) after last week also refusing to let them frack at Roseacre. This is a major step forward for us. but its not the end of the war. Cuadrilla will now run to their lickspital friends in Westminster and push for the government (the one that liked to shout about local democracy remember) to overturn this and then change the planning laws to take these decisions from local hands and put them into the power of the government who are in the pockets of the frackers. this may well yet get very dirty, but that’s not to take away from the fabulous victory today won by YOU! yes, YOU, the people of the Fylde, who petitioned, protested, put up signs placards banners and waved the anti fracking flag for all these years. I don’t thank you for this, but I feel that your children and grandchildren’s generation will be glad you stood up and fought for what is right. Thanks to John Regan
